Notes:	American music educator and director of Woodmere-Hewlett schools in New York. He went on to become Professor of Ethnomusicology at UCLA and a recognized world authority on the Hungarian composer Bela Bartok for whose estate he served as curator and trustee. He was a compoer of piano and choral music and a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) until his death.
